Saturday's Surprise

Last Saturday was my friend Doh's birthday. Her real name is DohGyoung Ahn, but she goes by Doh, which rhymes with play-DOH, FroDO, aDObe, etc.) Sherlynn and I decided we wanted to throw her a big surprise birthday party. She had mentioned earlier to me that she was craving pie, and since strawberries were on sale at Walmart, I decided to make her a strawberry pie. Here's how to make a strawberry pie in simplified steps:

1. Mix up the crust.

2. Roll out the crust.

3. Line the crust in a pie plate and stick it in the oven. (I usually always have some crust left over to make little cinnamon treats.) I didn't have enough dough to make another pie crust so I made some little tart shells.

4. Mix the cornstarch, sugar, and water. (Add the jell-o later.)

5. Cut up the strawberries.

6. Mix the strawberries with the the jell-o stuff and pour into the pie plate and tart shells. Refrigerate!

I will confess that I didn't add quite enough jell-o because the pie was a tad bit liquidy, but it still tasted delicious. I think I'll try it again this weekend!

I made the pie in the morning, and at about 3:00 I called Doh and told her we should go to the park right across the street since it was so nice outside. Sherlynn came along as well. I bought a princess crown for Doh to wear for the rest of the day.

We spent the time in the park developing our "hardcore parkour" moves. If you don't know what parkour is, you can youtube it. It's fantastic! My new favorite hobby. Doh and I are becoming masters. Check out the pictures! We are fierce!!!

The Princess found her "tower/bridge"!

Little did Doh know, that we had "hired" two guys to come kidnap her. (Don't worry, we knew the guys.)

I tried to keep the tiara on her head!

We took her to Sonic where we bought her a strawberry creamslush, and, SURPRISE!, we met up with some more friends. We tried to go to the zoo, because Doh LOVES animals, but when we arrived it was closing. So we went to Peter Pan Park instead. (Doh has a new crush on Peter Pan I think!) (Before each new stop, I had a rhyme/clue that Doh had to try and figure out!)

After some fun in the sun in the park, we progressed to La Hacienda, a local popular Mexican restaurant, for appetizers.

For the main meal, we continued on to Applebees, where we waited probably an hour to be seated. (Note to self, make a reservation in the future.) We had some good bonding time, though!

We told our waiter it was her birthday and so of course she got the song with the free dessert. She was mortified! After finally making it out of Applebees 3 hours later, we went back to my apartment for dessert. We asked Doh what she wanted to do: play games or watch a movie and she chose a movie--Tangled! (It was fantastic, btw! I highly recommend it!)

By the time everyone left, it was close to 11:30-12:00. I was exhausted, but had had such a fun time! I laughed so hard from start to finish. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOH!!!
