a visit from an old friend ... Einstein!

Becca Ladish, an old MK (missionary kid) friend from BF (Burkina Faso) came down from Kansas City a couple of weekends ago to hang out. We had a blast. One of the highlights from the weekend was a 2-hour walk we took one afternoon/evening. We went up and down the streets of Emporia looking at all of the fun houses. Here are some things we love:
- doors
- window shutters
- cool verandas that would make peaceful/quaint spots for a QT (Quiet Time = time with the Lord.) This would include screened-in porches--especially handy in Kansas where there are bugs
- iron gates
- brick or stone anything
- vines crawling up the brick or stone
- lampposts
- window seats
- houses that are set back from the road with big trees in the front lawn and beautiful gardens in the back
- porch swings
- American flags

One thing Becca and I have in common (besides being MK's from BF) is our rampant imaginations. We had a story/situation for every house. Imaginations do make the most lovely conversations. Many of the houses made us think of some of our all-time favorite books: Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery.

Sorry, the pictures are not the best. I was a little sketched out by the idea of someone catching me taking a picture of their house, so took them really fast! :)

Oh...and I call Becca, Einstein...long story. We struggled coming up with a good picture of the two of us together. But, here you go:
